Getaway at Camp Otterbein!

We strive to provide hospitality toward a spiritual, relational and recreational experience. Camp Otterbein is the perfect place to host your next retreat, youth group, mission trip, team building retreat, or family getaway. Just a short drive from Columbus, Ohio, Camp Otterbein offers you a chance to get away and relax in the beautiful Hocking Hills area.

Our staff will work with you to create an excellent experience for your group. There are lots of options for your visit and we are very flexible in how we can host you. From fully programmed and fed to the other end of the spectrum of simply being your host site and you take care of meals and activities. Every group gets access to a meeting space during their stay.

There is a Welcome Letter at the end of this page, which may be helpful for you to use as a handout or example to provide to your group and their families in preparation for the retreat.

If you are interested in hosting a retreat at Camp Otterbein, please contact the camp office at (380) 223-2267, option #1 or email us at camps [at]

We offer a variety of accommodations to fit your group's needs. Most groups choose to stay in one of our two retreat lodges with connecting restrooms, meeting room, and kitchen. We also offer traditional cabins with nearby restrooms and many rustic camping options, including overnight stay in our Treehouses. Small groups or retreat leaders may also choose our Pine Center, a retreat house with private bedrooms, full restrooms, living room, and kitchen. Facilities included and available for meeting space are Albright Lodge (minimum overnight group of 25 to reserve space), Freshour Shelter, Shaw Schoolhouse, and picnic shelters. For more information about our site, check out our Facilities page.

Included in your overnight rate is the use of camp for programming such as hiking, fishing, campfires and firewood, and recreational activities. We are happy to lead games and devotions upon request as part of hosting you! Many groups choose to enjoy some of our high adventure activities like the Climbing Wall, Zipline, High Ropes course, low ropes Team Building activities, and lake Swimming and Canoeing during the warmer months. We can also lead off-site trips to go Kayaking or Canoeing on the Hocking River, Rock Climbing and Rappelling in the Hocking State Forest, or hiking in area attractions. If you will be participating in acitvities led by Camp Otterbein staff, please bring a completed Release of Liability for each participant.

Our pricing is based on your group size and needs.  Included in your overnight rate is pre-vist planning with our staff, a meeting space for your group, and access to our grounds, hiking trails, and outdoor spaces. In recognition of the support we receive from the United Methodist Church, we offer discounted rates for any UMC groups who have paid their apportionments. Contact the camps and retreats office for more pricing information.

We are here to discuss your group retreat goals and desired outcomes. We would love to hear from you!
