On Friday, May 30, Bishop Jung recognized churches and individuals who have been leaders in transforming communities by growing disciples for Jesus Christ.
Laity Evangelism Award
Formerly, the Foundation for Evangelism's Harry Denman Award, the Laity Award recognizes lay people of all ages who are passionate about evangelism and serving in their communities to invite others to a transformed life in Jesus.
This year, the recipient is Sandy Ferrel of Kirkersville United Methodist Church in the Olentangy River District.
As a compassionate leader, Ferrel serves her local church and community in numerous ways including administration, leading Senior Vacation Bible School in local nursing homes, and spearheading community drive-up dinners. She has played a key role in evaluating ministry needs and identifying opportunities to release ministries to cultivate space for something new to grow.
