Monroe United Methodist Church invites you and your beloved pets to a special Blessing of the Animals service on Sunday, October 26 at 2pm. Whether you bring your faithful canine companion, a chirping parakeet, a gentle rabbit, or even a photo of a pet who can't make the journey, all are welcome to receive a blessing.
Why Bless Our Pets?
Our animal companions enrich our lives in countless ways. They teach us about unconditional love, patience, and living fully in the present moment. They comfort us when we're sad, celebrate with us when we're joyful, and ask nothing more than our care and affection in return. This service acknowledges the sacred bond between humans and animals and gives thanks for the gift of their presence in our lives.
The ancient tradition of blessing animals reminds us that all of creation deserves our reverence and care. It's a beautiful way to honor the creatures who share our homes and hearts.
What to Expect
The afternoon will begin with a brief time of worship celebrating the wonder of God's creatures, followed by individual blessings for each animal (or their photo). Please bring your pets on leashes, in carriers, cages, or otherwise safely secured for everyone's comfort and safety. Children are also encouraged to bring a favorite stuffed
animal to receive a special blessing.
All Are Welcome
Whether you're a regular churchgoer or simply an animal lover looking for a meaningful way to celebrate your pet, the folks at Monroe UMC would love to see you there. This is a joyful, family-friendly event that honors the beautiful creatures who make our lives fuller and our hearts larger.
