Ohio United Methodists Mobilize to Address Food Insecurity Amid Federal Shutdown
As the federal shutdown threatens to delay or suspend SNAP benefits, communities across Ohio are facing a growing crisis of food insecurity. In response, the Ohio Episcopal Area is calling on all United Methodists in the state to unite in action and compassion.
To address this urgent need, ten district-wide Zoom gatherings have been scheduled to bring together clergy and lay leaders from local churches. These virtual meetings are designed to:
- Learn what churches are already doing to support food-insecure families.
- Explore opportunities for collaboration and mobilization.
- Coordinate how the conference can provide support and resources.
This initiative is fluid and organic, built on the strength of our connection and the urgency of the moment. It’s more than a call to prayer—it’s a call to action.
- Monday, November 17, 7:00-8:00 pm - Olentangy River District -WOC
