Resources Available for Advent

As we enter November, your church may be planning Advent Bible studies and other ways to observe the season. As you plan, you may consider resources from Discipleship Ministries of The United Methodist Church and the Ohio Episcopal Area Conference.

First, the United Methodist Publishing House, The Upper Room (a ministry of Discipleship Ministries), and The Society of St. Andrew have produced books and resources to help churches and individuals prepare for Advent in a spirit of hope during this unprecedented time of uncertainty and anxiety. The resources cover a variety of topics and themes for individual or small group study or in classrooms.

In addition, the 2026 Ohio Episcopal Area Family Advent Devotional returns with resources designed for intergenerational, faith-filled conversations that can lead to Spirit-led actions throughout the season. This resource is for all ages.

The 2026 Advent Devotional includes a centering activity, lectionary scripture, a meditation, thoughtful questions, prayer, and more.

If you have questions about these resources, contact Rev. Ann Marie Carley, Director of Engagement with Children, Youth, and Young Adults for the Ohio Episcopal Area (amcarley@wocumc.org)
